Staff Recognition
Year-round recognition is an essential part of who we are

Programs like Teacher of the Year, Paraprofessional of the Year, and celebrations to mark national "day of appreciation" activities for professionals like our Nurses, Counselors, Social Workers, Teachers and Administrators... are, and will continue to be, an part of who we are as a District.

BUT THE TRUTH IS, employee recognition shouldn't be tied to a single date on the calendar. Here in Appoquinimink, we're working to create a culture that makes recognition part of who we are every day.

Praise and recognition are essential to an outstanding workplace. People want to be respected and valued by others for their contribution. Please help us lay the foundation by recognizing the efforts of staff at all levels who are having a measurable impact on the quality of our educational system.

Appoquinimink's BEATS MAKER AWARD

Appoquinimink’s BEATS Maker Award is designed to acknowledge staff members who demonstrate excellence in the areas of collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity and/or other actions resulting in organizational success. Each month, District stakeholders (parents, students, colleagues, community members) are encouraged to submit a nomination on behalf of a deserving ASD employee. Following a review and selection process, one or more honorees will be announced.

ELIGIBILITY: Nominees must exhibit excellence as it applies to collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking and/or other supportive actions. Evidence of one or more of these desired processes, and their resulting impact, should be clearly conveyed in the nomination. Award winners from the previous month are ineligible.

RECOGNITION: Every person nominated will receive a congratulatory letter, professional recognition, and the satisfaction that comes from knowing their talent and commitment has been recognized. Those selected as winners will be formally and informally honored in a variety of ways including, but not limited to: public recognition at a School Board Meeting, a profile on ASD’s social media channels, and an official announcement sent to staff and members of the press.

NOMINATION PROCESS: Eligible candidates may be nominated 15-30 days before a School Board Meeting using the online form provided,

SELECTION: Submissions will be reviewed by staff volunteers who will evaluate evidence of the impact made by each nominee before announcing our honoree(s) for that period
